Innisfil is located on the western shore of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County. The town was created from almost unbroken virgin forests which had been home to Huron Indians, and was first surveyed in 1820. 1820 the Hewnsons settled in Innisfil as the first Family, two years later Family Soules and the following year the Warnica family.

The first sawmill was opened in 1829, the first lumber for the construction of the first farm house for Lewis J. Clement was made in the same year. The name Innisfil comes from the Irisch ‘Inis Fáil’ an ancient mythological name for Ireland.
