Barrie is a City positioned on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay the western arm of Lake Simcoe.
Barrie is within the northern part of the greater holden Horseshoe, a densely populated part of Ontario. Its also a part of the historically significant Huronia Region.
During the War of 1812 was the Barrie area first settled as a key supply for British forces. Twenty years later it was named for Sir Robert Barrie who consistently commanded forces through the region.
Now Barrie is a popular tourist destination in Central Ontario and also known as ‘Gatewat to the Cottage Country’.
